Environment and Sustainability
Citizens need to learn information in the course of civic participation, but nature cannot speak for itself--it is up to people to witness nature for themselves. The TEIA produces reports to allow citizens to know about the environmental issues that persist in Taiwan's civil society.

The Taiwan Environmental Information Association (TEIA) was founded in 2001 as an organization for the dissemination of information about the environment, to promote the harmonious development of man and nature. For this purpose, the TEIA established the Environmental Information Center website in 2000, as well as a digital newspaper drawing on experts, scholars, and movement participants.

The founding members of the TEIA believed that for any action to carry out change, one needs to know what occurs around you. Only through sufficient knowledge can there be the opportunity for members of the public to come together and unite in such a manner to promote a harmonious relationship between man and nature, and achieve sustainable development.

The TEIA provides in-depth and up-to-date reporting, to allow the public to know the most recent developments regarding the environment. According to statistics, there are more than 200,000 articles and graphics on the TEIA website, with more than 29,000 views daily. In 2019, there were more than 10 million views on the website.

In 2014, the TEIA established Taiwan's first environmental trust, that is, the Hsinchu Nature Valley Environmental Education Fund. The TEIA promotes environmental conservation across Taiwan and promotes environmental trusts as a way to protect the environment. The TEIA conducts exchanges and cooperates with international organizations in order to allow for environmental trusts to be better understood.

Apart from publishing information on environmental issues and education on the environment, in establishing environmental trusts to allow for the planning and management of habitats, the TEIA seeks to strengthen civic participation, so that through volunteer work, internships, and working with companies, more people can participate in activities to protect the environment.
