424 Foundation is dedicated to carrying on the spirit of the 424 Incident of 1970(Assassination Attempt on Chiang Ching-kuo), which demonstrated the political will of Taiwanese against the authoritarian rule. Through a range of educational initiatives, the foundation seeks to promote transitional justice in Taiwanese history, and is committed to upholding Taiwan’s freedom, justice, democracy, human rights, and sovereignty.
424 Foundation digitally preserved valuable historical materials related to the 424 Incident, collected from the United States, Sweden, and other countries.
Cecilia Huang is one of the key figures in the 424 Incident. 424 Foundation compiled historical documents collected from interviews conducted in the United States, Canada, Sweden, and other countries. These include many precious manuscripts in handwriting by Cecilia Huang and important historical materials related to her efforts in rescuing Cheng Tzu-Tsai in the U.S., Sweden and the UK. 424 Foundation organized four exhibitions and seminars of these valuable historical materials island-wide, to promote the awareness of the '424 Incident'; and this contributions by female activists in Taiwanese history.
From 2024 to 2025, Taiwan has been facing a great shift of geopolitics uncertainty and internal political turmoil in the Legislative Yuan. In order to provide a platform for the civic society to dialogue and reflect amid these challenges, 424 Foundation organized a series of panel discussions titled “Remembering 424 Incident and Reflecting Taiwan’s Democracy.”
