Human Rights and Democracy Reinforcement
It's been a long and slow road from the lifting of martial law to democratization, from street protests to protecting human rights, three generations of Taiwanese have strived together.
The Taiwan Association for Human Rights (TAHR) has long struggled to promote universal human rights standards and protect freedoms in Taiwan. This includes capacity-building in civil society after the passage of the Two Covenants in 2009, as well as carrying out the work of improving the domestic legal system in line with international human rights. The TAHR is a member of FORUM-ASIA, the International Federation for Human Rights, the Asia Pacific Refugee Rights Network, and other international human rights networks. TAHR publishes an online newsletter, as well as translates and publishes books related to human rights.
