The Millet Foundation was formed in 2002, with funds donated by Yu Xiu-xia, and was formed by legal, cultural, and Indigenous experts.
Since its establishment, the Millet Foundation has participated in Indigenous cultural preservation, as well as cultural restoration and dissemination. The Foundation provides a platform and resources to provide a perspective from Indigenous on key issues and autonomy. The board members have different specializations, and when communities need academic, legal, cultural, or other expert advice, efforts can be put in for Indigenous land, education, language, and health.
